Our Programs

Workforce Development

The METRO Center’s SUCCES$ Workforce Development program assists young people in developing a personal employment portfolio that prepares them for jobs in high-demand employment fields in southern Arizona.
Participants explore their job interests through a career survey and then create and polish:
• Resumes
• Cover letters
• A master job application
• List of references
Participants also practice interview skills and dressing for success. In addition, we offer many opportunities for skill-building community service, life coaching to help young people stay on track to reach their dreams, and tutoring and other academic supports.

Are you a young person ready to find a job you enjoy and that helps you learn skills for the future? Do you know a young person who could benefit from workforce development assistance? Contact The METRO Center today!

Mentoring

The I Choose Me mentoring program at The METRO Center matches youth ages 8-17 with mentors and fellow mentees for an exciting project- and service-based mentoring experience. A typical mentoring group consists of 6 mentees and 2 mentors. Groups meet weekly and work on projects from community gardens to skateboard design. Mentoring groups also have the opportunity to participate in fun outings and our Celebrity Corner series.

Academics & Tutoring

The METRO Center also offers academic assistance for students in traditional and non-traditional schools. We have tutors available who can assist with school assignments, general math and literacy skills, and studying for GED® or other standardized tests. We also have computers available where students can work on homework or research projects or even complete online courses. Plus there are always snacks available in The METRO Center to keep those brain cells fired up!
Community Service
Community service isn’t just something assigned by Probation Officers or teachers—all successful people, be they athletes, businesspeople, or whatever they may be, give back to their communities because they know that their success is linked with their community. We provide lots of opportunities through The METRO Center to serve in the local community. From helping with fundraiser runs and events for local nonprofits to cooking dinner for children with serious illnesses and their families at the Ronald McDonald House, there are lots of ways to give back. Check out our calendar for upcoming activities and see the photos below to see some of the exciting things we have done.
